decided to enlarge this little acrylic into a larger oil on canvas and like to show you my progress...


very little drawing in this one,i like to start with blocking in the the dark colors,
using a large brush and very thinned paint

the thin paint dries quickly so i can block in the other big shapes,not interested in details,working loose,making mistakes that will later show up as movement!

constantly comparing the large color shapes,to see if they work together,adjusting values to keep things far away or up close

things are taking shape now,slowly trying to make sense and details...

here i decided to move up the first three lights,due to the difrent dimensions of the original,

the rest is just finishing off,correcting mistakes and/or creating a few more...

and here we are...

still need a few touch ups,blueing the distand track,play a bit more with the lights...

but this is enough for one session,will let it dry first.

i'm pleased i managed to stay loose,always easy to over do things when working bigger

but if anything,i think i used even less brush strokes

it is monday,...so back to work! thought i start the week with another little demo ( 24x30" oil on canvas) of Alex Zanardis BMW

ps,the color difference is because the photo's were taken on different time/light...nr1 is fairly close.

did a lot more work on the car,next step is to get more reflected color into the blue and make it go faster...it's looking a lot more autumn now...still trying to work over the whole painting.




things are taking shape now,must try and leave the details,concentrate on the overall look...

bit more color,i'm still unsure and use very thinned down paint,starting to get a bit bitty...must watch that...i'mgoingtofastallready!my camara loves light blue...

don't know where i'm going with that road yet,changed the position and seize of the car.not unhappy with the colors at the moment.

after the drawing,i start blocking in the big areas,
trying to make the colors work with each other,
being careful to keep the distant planes back.

i like to draw things out with a brush,with a very thin mixture of magenta and blue,on a peach colored canvas.
fitting the car in is going to be the hardest part....

sorry,the pictures are a bit poor,because i shot them from the easel. my studio is a barn and the sun was going in out today.
i can't use the road in the photo,it has to be a dirt track...
